App Review: TomTom
2009-09-18 02:04:00 TomTom brings its great history and reputation in the GPS industry to the iPhone and gives us a fairly good and simple GPS app. Their app, while featuring the top quality TomTom IQ Routes and maps for the US and Canada, is a little short on extra features. Routing is one of the most important features of a GPS app. TomTom?s routing options are very good, but very simple. It?s difficult to create a route with more than one stop. Your destination selection is done very well and includes the ability to set a point on the map, point of… More About: Travel , Review
Dev-Team Releases Pwnage Tool 3.1 For iPhone 2G and 3G!
2009-09-16 07:20:00 Only a matter of days after firmware 3.1 was released and already there is a working jailbreak out. The only downside to this newly released rendition of the exploit is that it only works on the iPhone 2G/3G or even the iPod Touch 1G. This means that anyone who has a new iPhone 3GS, you are still out of luck! But hopefully it won’t be too long of a wait to have all devices that run 3.1 jailbroken! 1. GOLDEN RULE: If you are using a 3G iPhone with ultrasn0w and rely on ultrasn0w to obtain cellular service, then you… More About: News , Iphone , Tool , Team
Early iPhone MMS Activation For Some Users?
2009-09-15 00:02:00 As early as a few days ago reports started springing up saying that some iPhone users are now able to use MMS features even though it is weeks before the September 25th launch date. Some believed at first that it was just merely a test gone awry but now that the feature has maintained usability it seems a more definite activation. While although you could download a fixed carrier package to add the feature to your phone you would just get an error when trying to send any MMS files until AT&T removes the opt-out feature on your… More About: News , Iphone , Early , Users , Activation
Will Apple Extend Its Contract With AT&T?
2009-09-12 05:03:00 We have all heard the rumors and alligations as to why Apple would, should, could, or will be leaving AT&T in the dust for other carriers like Verizon, but none that have actually been based on much more than speculation. This recent rumor is purely based on statistics and reports that were recently filed by iSuppli Corp. Their report predicts that Apple could infact renew their contract with AT&T due to the rise in HSPA usage after AT&T changes their network. It goes on to say that HSPA subscribers are projected to hit 1.4 billion in 2012, while competing… More About: News , Contract
iPhone Firmware 3.1 Released!
2009-09-10 01:05:00 Let’s start off by saying the obvious, DO NOT upgrade to the new firmware if you are EVER wanting to jailbreak your device again. Now that’s out of the way, we all know at some point the Dev-Team is going to crack this case just as well as all the ones before it but no one can tell when that will be. You should definitely not upgrade if you do not have your Below is a list of the few new features of the iPhone as well as a few minor fixes that Apple hasn’t cared to talk… More About: News , Iphone , Firmware , Released

Commodore64 Emulator!
2009-09-08 02:33:00 As reported on iPhone game site TouchArcade.com, Apple has finally approved a Commodore 64 emulator called C64 for sale on the App Store. The emulator had originally been rejected by Apple in June for violations of the SDK agreement, despite being officially licensed from both rights holders of the Commodore ROMs and the individual games bundled. Apple has since been in contact with the company and a slightly modified version of the application has been approved for sale. In particular, Apple appears to have requested the removal of the Commodore BASIC interpreter from the application which allows running arbitrary code. … More About: Games
AT&T Tries To Explain Network Outages In A Video Post.
2009-09-05 18:23:00 AT&T recently posted a video trying to explain why their network has been having so many issues. iPhone users are largely to blame for the outages with every Tom, Dick, and Harry getting one regardless if they really are going to use it or not. It is the latest fashion so to speak. Regardless AT&T knew what they were getting into and knew there was going to be trouble, but they insisted on cutting corners and giving the short straw to its customers. “We’ve been working for months to prepare the radio access controllers in our network to support… More About: Video , News , Post , Network
AT&T Set To Flip The Switch For MMS On September 25!
2009-09-05 18:06:00 It has recently been confirmed that AT&T is going to enable the long awaited MMS feature on September 25th! This is a slight ray of hope that one day they will enable tethering as well! On launch day AT&T will enable a software update via iTunes that will be available for the iPhone 3G and 3GS only. Even though AT&T blames the network not being ready they still should have had the service available from day 1. It says a lot for AT&T’s service when every other carrier in the world was ready to roll on 3GS launch… More About: News , Switch , Flip
App Review: iGo MyWay
2009-09-04 00:40:00 When I first got this App I was rather sceptic; another G.P.S. app on the App Store harnessing 3.0?s brand-new MapKit API. I opened the App, waited until it loaded then my draw dropped wide open. I was dazzled by iGo?s incredible and intuitive User Interface! It provides a brand new form of using a satellite-guided application. I was first rather sceptic about this new presentation, but after a few tries I?m more then addicted to the method. I noticed a few cons when traveling with this app; firstly there is no ?blocked road? function, and it doesn’t seem… More About: Travel , Review
?Free Memory? Function Might Be A Thing Of The Past!
2009-08-31 18:48:00 The “Free Memory ” function has become present in numerous apps both in the App Store and Cydia, but that will soon change. Apple has decided to put their foot down on the subject and demand all developers who currently use this function to remove it asap. Apple has banned any app on the App Store from being able to run in the background, for obvious memory hogging reasons. However Apple allows many of their stock applications, such as Mail, Safari, and iPod, to continue to run in the background making your iPhone signifigantly more difficult to use. This… More About: News , Past , Thing
Apple Answers About ?Exploding? iPhones!
2009-08-30 17:27:00 A few days ago it was announced that there have been a handful of reports stating that iPhones have been “exploding” and causing damage to its users. One report from France even stated that the user had fragments of glass shot into his eye due to the malfunction. However there has now been an investigation conducted by France’s official consumer affairs department to look into how serious these claims are. Along with this investigation Apple released a statement saying that the device malfunctions were not caused by faulty hardware, simply the devices being misused and too much pressure… More About: News , Answers
Reports of Exploding iPhones!
2009-08-27 05:13:00 You know that device you hold dear? That phone that has an app for everything, and almost never lets you down? That wonderful device, Apple’s iPhone, has not shown the same kindness to certain users who were hurt by exploding iPhones. Yassine Bouhadi, the Frenchman who was injured, says he received a full face of glass when the explosion happened. “I want an explanation about this d***ed telephone,” said 26-year-old Bouhadi after the incident, and he intends to press charges. There have been more exploding iPhone incidents in Europe, but Apple assures the European Union that so far… More About: News
The Revolutionary Bosspaper Wallpaper App is a Hit!
2009-08-26 04:25:00 About two weeks ago, BigBoss released the stable, non-beta version of Bosspaper in Cydia. This version (v1.0) included some sensible and well anticipated features to the already long list. If you remember my last post on BigBoss’ Bosspaper, the initial features were abundant. Before the Bosspaper Beta was even released, BigBoss listed features that would be in the upcoming app. With low CPU usage, the option to hide icon labels, fade options, and much more, BigBoss’ original preview of Bosspaper got many iPhone users excited. In version 1.0, Bosspaper has some added features such as a sequential wallpaper rotation option. Another one… More About: News , Wallpaper , Revolutionary
Apple Gives Some Answers About Their FCC Investigation!
2009-08-24 03:15:00 We all are very aware of the scrutiny that Apple and AT&T has been under with their removal of the Google Voice app and AT&T exclusivity agreements, and we now received some answers as to why… Apple stated that, contrary to media reports, Google Voice was not rejected from the App Store it was simply still under review. They also stated that AT&T has absolutely nothing to do with the delay of the apps approval, so the blame rests solely on them. Apple further went on to say that they are still holding up their end of the… More About: News , Answers , Investigation
Canada/Australia Running All Out of iPhones!
2009-08-21 06:12:00 There have been a few reports circulating recently that the exclusive service providers in both Canada and Australia are running out of iPhones in stock. On top of that they are saying that it will be several weeks before normal availability will resume. Although they are out of stock local Apple stores have most models available. Rogers Wireless, the exclusive carrier for Canada, stated that they are continuing to recieve new shipments but they are all going to fill backorders. This then causes all new orders on their website to be even further backed up. Apple also recently… More About: News , Running
Security Bug In Firmware 3.0 Allows You to View Deleted Emails.
2009-08-18 05:25:00 With the addition of the “landscape” mode into the Mail app it has started being used as my main method of email composition, but that could soon change. Cult of Mac reader Matt Janssen recently announced that the Mail app has a major security flaw that could allow others to view your deleted email with an easy search. Those who use the new firmware update 3.0, regardless if it’s for the iPhone 2G, 3G, 3GS, or any iPod, might want to watch how many sensitive emails they have stored on their iPhone. Even if you delete the email… More About: News , Security , Firmware , View , Emails

New Rumors on the 8GB iPhone 3GS!
2009-08-13 03:40:00 Soon after the 8GB iPhone 3GS rumors were snuffed out, a new one started making its rounds. It was originally thought that a new 8GB iPhone 3GS was going to be released. The iPhone 8GB 3GS was aimed at replacing the iPhone 8GB 3G when they were eventually all sold. It was going to remain at he $99 mark just like the current iPhone 3G. Apple?s Confusing App Review Process.
2009-08-08 00:52:00 Apple has been known to be quite senseless when it comes to accepting Apps into the App Store. A while back, apple rejected a Twitter client for the iPhone. Apple’s reason for this was that profane language was contained in the app’s Twitter updates. This means that because of profane words that were in individuals’ Twitter updates, Apple rejected the app. This is very inconsistent, because apps like Facebook, and Apple’s own Safari will often contain foul language. Profanity is a given as far as the internet is concerned, and Apple needs to snap out of this unreasonable mindset. … More About: News , Review , Process
Developer Implements New System That ?Knows? if You Use His App Unlawfully!
2009-03-10 01:36:00 Right from the beginning, where there was paid software, there have been hackers cracking it. Where there has been hacked software there have also been people perfectly willing to use it, thus breaking the law. So it was obvious that this was going to be the case with the App Store, Apple’s immensely successful market place for iPhone applications. Up to now, there hasn’t been much in the way of counteracting the use of cracked apps. There have however been the obvious methods such as informing the site hosting these illegal apps, so that they can be taken… More About: News , System , Developer
iPhone App Developers Will Suffer Because Apple is Snowed Under!
2009-03-09 18:39:00 When developers successfully get an app into the App Store, they are given a 1 year renewable contract from Apple . Now it seems that the earliest app developers may be left out in the cold because Apple could be facing a month-long backlog with regards to contract renewal. Doubled with this is the thousands of new developers waiting to receive their very first contract. When the App Store first opened its doors for business, requests for an agreement only took as little as two days for Apple to handle. Now, with the App Store reporting to have… More About: News , Iphone , Developers

China Unicom in Confirmed Talks With Apple. The Saga Continues?.
2009-03-07 06:46:00 In an article I covered earlier this year, talks between Apple and China Mobile had broken down due to the network giant insisting on controlling the App Store in China. It has now come to light that China Unicom, China’s second largest network operator, has confirmed that they are in talks with Apple to provide the iPhone to its customers, but as of yet, it has not been confirmed that a deal is close to being struck. According to Reuters, Chairman Chang Xiaobing told reporters, “We are in talks with many handset suppliers, including Apple.” It has… More About: News , Saga
Verizon Contemplating iPhone After Exiting Customer Reviews.
2009-03-06 01:44:00 Back in September 2008, rumors surfaced that Verizon was in talks with Apple to bring the iPhone to their network, but the rumor didn’t hold too much water due to an apparent exclusivity deal with Apple and AT&T which was said to last until 2010. More reports came out recently backing up Verizon’s interest in the iPhone, but it is unlikely that AT&T will allow Apple to subsidize the phone under other carriers in the US before their contract expires. The most recent sign of this, discovered by BGR, is shown quite blatantly in Verizon’s Service-Cancellation-Survey. Three of the… More About: News , Reviews , Iphone , Customer
The Man From Microsoft, He Say No!
2009-03-05 06:40:00 The iPod family and the iPhone are amongst the most sought after gadgets these days, not surprisingly with the younger generation. So for kids to be deprived the chance of having one of these devices could be seen as unfair by most. This is definitely the case when it comes to the Gates children, Jennifer, Rory and Phoebe. Bill Gates, who founded Microsoft , has reportedly banned his offspring from getting their hands on any device from Apple. Surely the kids should have a say in which digital music player they have or which mobile phone they can talk… More About: News

2009-03-04 20:14:00 We all look for exactly the right case for our iPhones. The right case to not only match our personalities, but to protect our prized possession and match our own specific personalities. iPhone UK Sales Reach 1 Million Mark!
2009-03-04 08:25:00 As part of an earnings release, covering the fourth quarter of 2008, Telefónica Europe announced that their O2 subsidiary in the UK has now sold over one million iPhones since the launch of the original iPhone in November 2007. O2 pointed to the iPhone as one of the key components driving its performance, which was significantly better than the overall UK wireless market in all main financial and operating metrics. In particular, O2 highlighted the growth of its prepay segment, driven in part by the addition of prepaid iPhone offerings late in the quarter. More About: News , Iphone , Sales , Reach , Mark
Wormy Reviews Pulled from Apple App Store!
More articles from this author:2009-03-01 01:56:00 Two years ago, the iPhone made it’s debut. The revolutionary device was coveted by techies and laymen alike. But the device was not a true gaming unit until the introduction of the App Store with the 3G, in July 2008. This platform repository enabled the iPhone to work like a mini computer which allowed third party items and programs to be installed via WiFi, 3G, or Edge connections to expand and capitalize on the iPhones capabilities. The App Store is a resounding success, containing apps for just about anything, and I mean anything. From remote updates on your bank… More About: News , Reviews , Apple 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 |
