The Fountain Bridge
2008-10-23 16:35:00
From Neatorama: Here's a pretty neat way of turning a ho-hum bridge into an amazing tourist attraction: turn it into a fountain! The fountains at the Banpo Bridge were installed on September ninth and have since become a major tourist attraction. It has nearly 10 thousand nozzle

Netflix Review In A Minute: The Fountain
2008-06-01 22:15:00
I have no idea what the hell I just watched. I remember way back in the day, when Brad Pitt was attached to this film. I guess he pulled out and years later Hugh Jackman picked up the role. I sympathize with Pitt as this film is a piece of hot mess crap. We're led to believe that Tom and Izzy's love spans a millennium in three different time periods. OK. I can kind of get on board with that. But then you learn that Izzy is writing a book and that the Spanish Conquistador storyline is part of her book. So...then are we not supposed to think that in another life these characters were together? That it's just Izzy's creation? Or does Izzy know that in another life they were lovers. The presence of Izzy's book just confuses everything.I guess the main point of the movie is to teach Hugh about accepting life and death as an inevitability. Unfortunately the film seems more focused on looking cool than actually making sense. You jump through time to different versions of the characters...

Yesterday I bought THE FOUNTAIN vcd at the mall. I've not heard of the film but since Rachel Weisz star's in it and the cover looks good I just thought I'd buy it. And I did, together with Gone With The Wind (which I'll be watching soon).I saw the movie today and I'm going to tell you all what I think. To start with, based on my research, the film didn't do well in the box office and the critics aren't happy about it. In short, it was a disappointment. The story is about love, love of 2 people that exists in 3 periods. Hmmmmmn...I think Wiki says something about the love of both that exists for 3 time periods but I don't think so...I think it's the story of the book that Izzi wrote, I could be wrong though...but that's my interpretation.Since there were 3 periods shown in the movie I can't help thinking that the other 2 isn't real...it's imaginative and dream-like (it's the book!).The first 4 minutes of the movie was just......WHAT????!!!! Then luckily I didn't turn the...
The Fountain (2006) review
2008-03-17 21:47:00
This movie is simply amazing. It’s a story about love, death, spirituality, and the fragility of our existence in this world. After I saw the trailer, I was sure it was going to be just a very cool drama and love story with great visual effects, about a guy who was going to find the ...
Looking for the Fountain of Youth?
2008-03-08 23:29:00
How many of us ladies are looking for that fountain of youth? Does it really exist? Is it a myth? In a quest to look forever young, ladies and men alike have been searching for that miracle that would fight the signs of aging. Some have resorted to cosmetic surgery while others who do not want to go under the knife opt for non-intrusive means of keeping young with products like botox injection. And there are a group of people who prefers the natural way of obtaining longevity by taking oral supplements like Biotivia which carries a host of range from super antioxidant to their advance longevity formula. Their two latest products available on March, 1st, the "Bio Quench - the Ultimate Antioxidant" has a unique formulation of extracts from apple skin, goji berry, pomegranate, mangosteen, grape skin, and alpha lipoc acid while the "Bio Span+ - Supreme Longevity Supplement", are formulated specifically to fight aging at both genetic and metabolic levels.Whatever you are doing and actions...
Technology and the push for the fountain of youth
2007-12-15 00:44:00
As technology become more available to the masses, we incorporate the technology to things we want like computers and Video. Today we use computers for CGI in movies and TV shows for creating objects and enhancing objects. One profession that pushes for greater CGI technology is cosmetic surgeons.  Technology is mostly a male based profession, cosmetic surgeons is mostly made up of males. Now more males are turning to plastic surgery to feel better, look younger, and even help with their careers. But their bodies, goals, and temperaments are special. Men need unique procedures, done the right way. Men want a better defined, more angular shape on both their bodies and faces. They want to look youthful and vibrant, rather than "beautiful." Beverly Hills plastic surgery is one of the specialties at southern california liposuction. They have trained and  understand men's and women's distinctive needs before, during and after surgery providing excellent experiences as to enhan...

The Fountain - Dir: Darren Aronofsky
2007-10-09 11:02:00
Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett were attached to this film before creative differences between them and the director forced the whole movie to close down. The director has a great pedigree (Requiem for a Dream and Pi) and this film was highly anticipated. The result however is an utter disappointment, an incomprehensible mess of a story that leaves you wondering what the hell went on. Now stars Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weitz who aren't bad actors at all, but seem to be acting into nothing. Really poor, this is a JM THUMBS DOWN.
The Fountain

The Fountain is like a puzzle that fits together very well. Aronofsky weaves together three stories about the truth and consequences of the search and attainment of eternal life. The stories unfold within past, present and future scenarios that illustrate a perspective on eternal life that is relevant to the historical period and defines development of human consciouness over time.Aronofsky fills his film with a lyrical beauty, a natural grace and rhythm that tracks the story using the emotional journey of his leads rather than the linear plot lines as his guide. He shifts easily and naturally between time lines, each time period informing and altering the others, the characters slowly learning to grapple with questions of life, death, love gained and soon to be lost. Fantastic in every sense, this film is indeed poetry, and a beautiful testament to love and the cycle of life and the impermanence of death. A man and a woman, Adam and Eve, trying to break the chains of time and be ha...

We just got Darren Aronofsky’s The Fountain in the NetFlix mail today, and we loved it. Definitely worth watching, a thinking movie, a feast for the eyes. The use of lights was spectacular. It was in the same realm as What Dreams May Come (though I liked that one better), but it also made me ...

The Fountain Review
2007-09-04 22:38:00
*** Spoiler Alert ***I watch The Fountain this weekend. Has anyone else seen it? I don't think any of my close friends have because if they had I think they would have warned me about it. It was not a bad movie, but it was a very weird movie. The movie is about Tommy (Hugh Jackman) and Izzi (Rachel Weisz). Tommy is a doctor researching new drugs to cure cancer. Izzi, his wife, is dying of brain cancer. In the process of looking for a cure for cancer Tommy finds the Tree of Life/Fountain of Youth. Unfortunately, he does not find it soon enough to save Izzi's life. The plot is actually pretty complex because it cuts be current time where Izzi is dying and he is looking for the cure for cancer, the future where Izzi is dead and he is presumable 100s of years old sill mourning her loss. The movie is about learning to deal with death, both your own and the ones you love. To further make the plot more complex there is also a third part of the story line which is a book that Iz...
Does The Fountain Of Youth Lie In Israeli Skin Cream?
2007-09-04 21:59:00
(Hat Tip: Israel 21st Century)It looks as if a new skin cream by Dr. Orit Bossi could not only make people retain their youthful image, but also protect peoples skin against harmful UV rays. But what separates this cream out from similar products may reside in the fact that it can outlast its competition.(Jerusalem Post) The new antioxidant, according to Bossi, is stable in high temperatures, soluble in water and does not easily oxidize, allowing it to retain its efficacy over a long period. ...Unlike sunscreens, which merely protect the skin from much of the harm of UV rays, Bossi said her antioxidant retards the aging of the skin. Unlike cosmetic preparations, she said her discovery "deals with the deepest layers of the skin and not only the epidermis."Dr. Bossi was able to do an experiment of the cream using the skin cells of mice. After exposing a group of them to UV rays she discovered that the skin cells treated with her antioxidant skin cream seemed to be "much happier" than...

The Fountain (2006)

The Fountainis a very strange and moody movie, with weird visuals that reminded me of “The Night Watch” introductory sequence, Peter Gabriel’s “Growing Up” tour visuals, Andrei Tarkovsky’s original 1972 “Solaris” and a more recent “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”. More of “Solaris” then anything else.In “Solaris” the people on board the spaceship have ...

The Fountain
2007-06-02 08:02:00
The Fountain is a movie to be seen again and again.I am not one of those viewers that seeks deep meaning in a movie. For example Pan's Labyrinth did nothing for me. It was boring and gory. The Fountain requires multiple views before you will "get it".There are three eras represented in the movie with two common characters. In the 16th Century, Hugh Jackman plays a Spanish Conquistador while Rachel Weisz is the queen of Spain. In the 21st Century (2005), Hugh Jackman plays a doctor desperately seeking a cure for tumors because Rachel Weisz, his wife, is dying from one.In the 26th Century, Hugh Jackman is a bald chap enclosed in a bubble traveling through space. Also in the bubble is a tree that represents Rachel Weisz.I cannot say more without revealing the telling links between these three stories (this is not about some reincarnation nonsense).Suffice to say that the movie keeps you hooked and the performances are simply brilliant. After a long time there is a movie that uses music wi...

Science fiction and romance collide in The Fountain, the ambitious third feature from director Darren Aronofsky (Pi, Requiem for a Dream), who labored for four years to complete this epic-sized love story that stretches across centuries and galaxies. Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz (Aronofsky’s real-life companion) play lovers in each of ...

Film The Fountain (2006) plunges one into a psychic world
2007-04-21 15:28:00
Starting with a puzzling start and taking you to the psyche of a researcher whose wife has an incurable tumor, the Fountain is a worthwhile film that gives you a spiritual realization of life and death. Yet I have to correct a wrong done by many. It does not fit into the science fiction but rather the fantasy genre. Here I say fantasy not in the sense of Lord of the Rings Trilogy or the latest 300. Fantasy like in the Labyrinth or Eternal Sunshine of A Spotless Mind. They mix reality with an hyper-reality. The truth has a parallel but limitless reflection on this hyper-reality. So when you watch Fountain, starring Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz, you experience a two-fold story, one in ?zzi's novel where the Spanish Conquistador goes in search of a tree whose balm gives eternal life and the other in real life where her husband devotes his time to find a cure to her illness. In either way this is a story of Dr. Faustus asking for an immortal kiss. I wont tell the end to take the joy o...

The Fountain: REVIEWED!
2006-12-03 22:45:02
Well I figure it was about time after seeing this movie months ago back at the Toronto International Film Festival. The Fountain is Darren Arronovsky’s third major film following his breakout conspiracy film Pi, and his genius allegory of addiction; Requiem for a Dream. To say I had lofty expectations for this film would be an understatement. I was excited to see Aronofsky take on the dark knight with his Year One film which didn’t pan out as well as Samurai epic Lone Wolf & Cub which to the best of my knowledge is still under development. Then this film had been well into development with Brad Pitt in the lead. Well good things come to those who wait. It frustrates me to mention that I cannot partake in another viewing of the Fountain until next week as I am busy doing grip work on set. Just so you know this film was like a jolt of heroine that made me look at the world in a much more beautiful way all while making want to watch it again and again. Well now it̵...

Recomendaciones: The Fountain (Darren Aronofsky, 2006)
0000-00-00 00:00:00
