Theft of RM40 scrap metal behind blackout in Sabah
2008-04-23 17:02:00 KOTA KINABALU: Metal thieves blacked out almost the entire state of Sabah on Monday – for a mere RM40. It is believed they removed steel pieces from a 132kV transmission tower that led to its collapse, triggering a major power blackout lasting nearly six hours from 6.41pm and affecting 300,000 consumers. Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd managing director Baharin Din told a press conference yesterday that 20 pieces of steel holding the tower at Suang Parai area here had been removed.“They could probably get about RM40 in scrap value but they caused huge losses and inconvenience to the people of Sabah,” Baharin said adding that the tower cost RM400,000 to build. Economic losses caused by the six-hour blackout would be even bigger. Baharin said the transmission line between Kayu Madang and Universiti Malaysia Sabah collapsed, leading to a domino effect, tripping all SESB and independent power plants connected to the various grids. “We lost about 500MW of power and 90% of the state was...

mp3 in Sabah
2008-01-12 18:35:00 What is MP3 ? Yeah.. everyone know that mp3 is some kind of format for music files, it is very popular in now day, accroding to wikipedia.org ,MPEG-1 Audio Layer 3, more commonly referred to as MP3, is a digital audio encoding format. This encoding format is used to create an MP3 file, a way to store a single segment of audio, commonly a song, so that it can be organized or easily transferred between computers and other devices such as MP3 players. MP3 uses a lossy compression algorithm that is designed to greatly reduce the amount of data required to represent the audio recording, yet still sound like a faithful reproduction of the original uncompressed audio to most listeners. An MP3 digital file created using the mid-range bitrate setting of 128 kbit/s results in a file that is typically about 1/10th the size of the digital data found on an audio CD.What is good about mp3? Mp3 file size is smaller than CD audio files, some files has good quality as CD audio. Now days there are m...
Sabah Mulls Over Introducing K-1 As Tourism Sport
2008-01-12 17:45:00 Sabah Mulls Over Introducing K-1 As Tourism SportKOTA KINABALU, Jan 9 (Bernama) -- The Sabah government is exploring the possibility of introducing K-1, a popular martial arts fighting sport in Japan, as one of the tourism sports to woo more foreign tourists to visit the state.State Assistant Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment Datuk Karim BUjang said Wednesday this was because the K-1 had become one of the world's fastest growing sports, particularly in Japan with about 40 per cent of its population watching K-1 sporting programmes on TV.K-1 fuses martial arts such as karate, kung fu and kickboxing (the "K") into a modern sport to determine the single best stand-up fighter in the world (the "1") and K-1 rules allow its fighters from many different disciplines to complete."K-1 is quite popular in Japan so much so that they have established the K-1 Fan Club with quite a large following and I believe this is one area that we can tap as far as tourism in Sabah is concerned."M...

Sabah: Overview
2008-01-06 16:27:00 Multiethnic population prevails in this state, along with its neighboring Sarawak. Its tolerance towards people from different ethnicity is much more obvious than those from the Peninsular Malaysia. It is also famous for its Mount Kinabalu, which is known as the highest mountain in Southeast Asia. Sabah owns much of the National Forests in Malaysia such as Crocker Range Parks and Pulau Tiga Park. My journey with my family includes exploring the city of Kota Kinabalu and the area surrounding the mountain. We only had a full week to get to know this area while appreciating the beauty it possesses. Two sets of camera and video cam were prepared for this fateful event. I even had to skip classes for this trip. I was fortunate to have my friends and lecturer to back me up. Thanks guys.

The cover speaks for itself and Ray Charles could see why we’re fans of the Dino. And if the cover shot isn't enough for you check out the behind-the-scenes-video courtesy of Iroman...So...
