Why does it feel like Goldman Sachs is Slurping our Homes
IS IT JUST ME or are institutional investors also raiding your city? Here I loosely define ‘institutional investors’ as ‘organized money’, something backed by a well oiled capital machinery. Because it sure don’t look like cash from under their pillow. My emotional progression about all of this (not in the least, random): Damn, those guys ...This Article is Copyright © 2004-2011 BiggerPockets, Inc. All Rights Reserved. Goldman Sachs CEO gets $16.2 million pay package
(Reuters) - Goldman Sachs Group Inc Chief Executive Lloyd Blankfein's compensation increased 14.5 percent to $16.2 million in 2011 despite a sharp decline in profits and share price during the year, leaving the bank open to more attacks on its pay policies. Blankfein's pay boost includes stock awards from previous years that vested in 2011, and therefore does not reflect the amount that Goldman's board awarded him strictly for the company's performance last year. Goldman offered another figure, $12 million, as the amount Blankfein received for his performance last year. ...

Sony forecasts net profit for FY 2012. Sony (SNE) has predicted it will swing to a net profit of ¥80B ($975M) in FY 2012 (.pdf) after three years of losses, although the company's outlook is less than analyst forecasts of ¥105B. Even so, some think Sony could be too ambitious, with one economist saying that "there's a lot of uncertainty and there is a risk they will come in below that expectation." Sony is battling to recover from the damage caused by the March earthquake, while the hacking of its PlayStation Network and other Web sites will hit operating profit by ¥14B this year. Sony gave the forecast along with its results for FY 2011, which it flagged earlier this week. Net losses widened to ¥259.6B from ¥40.8B in 2010 as revenue slipped 0.5% to ¥7.18T.More details emerge of massive Fed loans during crisis. Credit Suisse (CS), Goldman Sachs, (GS) and Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) each borrowed at least $30B in 2008 from a Fed emergency lending scheme called singl...

Although, the offer is only slightly higher then Halliburton's offer, it may strike a bidding war. Analysts speculate that Haliburton's offer holds more merit, as Haliburton is much more likely to keep the company in long run as opposed to investment firms reselling the company shortly afterwards.

"Goldman Sachs and Wells Fargo warn 'delusional' investors on stocks." So
So what's your investment portfolio look like today? On stocks, are you a bull or a bear?I'm neither. I'm still into "asset preservation" and currency diversification. Commodities, food, oil, foreign markets, multinationals, dividend payers, foreign currencies, gold, silver. Knowing Bernanke is doing all he can to start a new bubble somewhere (hint - it's already well underway) while destroying the dollar. Some companies are going to be going away these next few months, others will see their stocks continue to get pummeled, while others will do just fine. And there's a LOT more surprises to come. I have one word for this market: Dangerous. Invest carefully. Read Crash Proof. Read Manias, Panics and Crashes. And don't put all your eggs in the US dollar. Cash is King - but cash comes in many forms, not just Bernanke's US dollars.Wall Street faces the growing risk of an equities bloodbath in coming months as the credit crunch spreads to the wider economy and earnings crumble, acc...

Goldman Sachs ups subprime mortgage mess loss estimate to a HP-worthy $1.2
Still seeing 'subprime this' and 'subprime that', when we all know the REALLY big mess coming up ain't subprime at all. Why is it so tough for everyone to see what we see? Maybe they know and just don't want to say? When you see nationwide home values plummeting 10%+, and major cities like Vegas, Miami and Phoenix in total freefall, it's not just subprime that's for dinner. Nope, it's EVERY mortgage written the past few years that may be in trouble. It's the IndyMac Alt-A garbage, and the First Federal Option Arm timebombs. It's the entire Countrywide portfolio. And it's regular prime loans made by regular lenders all over the country. It's all melting down now - any loan made 2003 - 2007 is suspect, especially when the rates adjust or the job losses mount. And it infuriates me to no end to keep hearing reporting over here about the "dodgy loans made to poor people" who couldn't afford their loan that caused this mess.IT WASN'T JUST THE POOR PEOPLE!!! It was the housing...
