Extra Horizontal Lines on Fingers
I've been getting a lot of questions lately about the meaning of extra horizontal lines on the fingers, especially on the baby finger. The easiest way to understand these lines is to think of each horizontal line as a 'challenge' or 'block' to be overcome, and each vertical line as a 'breakthrough' or 'advancement'. The baby finger represents all forms of communication with others, so the extra

Months More of Work Delays Ahead
The ongoing construction/restoration work here has become far too disruptive to continue attempting to keep up with writing and blog posts. Monday through Friday is pretty constant noise and dust now, which makes it impossible to think clearly for long or get any regular work done. I've already had to stop teaching private students here because of all the construction work, and will not be

Acrylic Fingernails and Hairdressers - A Bad Combination
I've never been a big fan of artificial fingernails. Acrylic nails (in my opinion) cause too much damage to the real fingernail to be worth any visual improvement they might provide. For some people the damage caused by acrylic nails can be more severe than for others. A good example is hairdressers, who can have nearly constant problems caused by the use of false nails. As part of their job,

Broken Fingernails and Bleeding Cuticles
I've been more than a tad reclusive again lately, having very little contact with anyone except family, clients and students. Lots happening, but mostly just keeping to myself and not writing much at all. I seem to do this from time to time when something big is coming up that will require a lot of my energy, effort, and clear thinking. (That plus getting worn down by all the construction/

Suggested Christmas Gifts Based on the Hands
I've been asked to do a few reporter and radio interviews lately on the topic of looking at someone's hands to suggest the best Christmas gifts for them - A fun little subject. The basic technique that anyone can do is to view the hand size (small or large) and firmness (hard or soft hands). Large hard hands are quite competitive, driven, and detail-oriented, so they enjoy receiving new

Slow Replies to Email Questions
It has been an extremely busy few weeks (or months?) and despite extra effort, my email correspondence has quickly fallen way behind. After responding to many more today, I now have a backlog of 'only' 391 messages and questions left to answer.

How Many Fingers and Knuckles on the Human Hand?
A couple of common questions I get are "Do we have ten fingers or eight fingers and two thumbs?" and "Does a hand have 4 knuckles or 14 knuckles?" In each case, both answers are considered correct. Technically it is a bit more accurate to say that there are 8 fingers and 2 thumbs. The word "knuckle" uses the same distinction in its definition, so each hand has EITHER: 4 fingers and 4 knuckles,

Fingerprints of Foster Parents
Last night I was reading palms at another event for foster parents, and once again noticed the same high occurrence of the double-loop thumb prints (also called double whorl ). About 25% of the hands I saw had at least one double-loop fingerprint on each hand, and a few people had it on 6 or more of the 10 fingers. (Double Loop - Fingerprint image from Creative Chemistry - Fingerprinting)

Where Does the Time Go?
Seems like the last blog post was just written yesterday. So much going on these days it's hard to keep up with it all. Then to top it all off the construction here has been terrible the past 3 days - We've had to keep going out to get away from the noise and vibration. This building renovation project is expected to continue through the Winter, but hopefully we'll have quieter days again.

Palmistry and Psychology
Palmistry and hand analysis can be closely tied to psychology in many ways. The Forer Effect and subjective validation are just 2 examples. I have studied a "bit" of psychology previously, but now it's time to take it further and get some diplomas in the field. I'm enrolling first in a program on child psychology, then after that going on to adult psychology and councelling. The first course

Laws Regarding Palmistry
Palmistry is one of those grey areas when it comes to its governing laws and regulations in most countries. Normally it's the municipal laws and by-laws that you really have to look at. To read palms in one city may require nothing - Not even a business license. In another area you might need a business license and then have to make applications for additional permits as well, all prior to

Caught a Virus
Somehow wound up with a worm virus in my computer. Don't know yet how it got there in the first place, or how much damage it did before it was caught and repaired. So far everything is back and seems to be working fine (knock on wood)...

Fingernail Moons and Driving Habits
Your bad driving habits may be hurting you more than you realize - Perhaps doing as much harm as smoking 2 packs of cigarettes per day. Take a look at your fingernails. In palmistry the "moons" at the base of each nail show how well blood and oxygen are circulating through your body. Too large of moons reveals excessive action of the heart (such as high blood pressure), while fingernail moons

There have been some changes to the Simian Line Forum . Registration is no longer automated - Due to repeated abuse of the forum I'm now handling all new registrations personally. To register just send an email to ken [at] humanhand.com along with the member

Palmistry on BlogShares
BlogShares is a fantasy stock market for blogs. I've been playing the game for 1 month now, and my overall ranking is up to #132. Although BlogShares is just a game, a nice thing about it is that their search results have far less spam and obsolete blogs than just about any other large index. For example, searching for Palmistry on BlogShares now shows only 2 results - This Palmistry and
