Save Me Time: Don?t Go To College
2008-05-19 06:28:00
Since I?ve convinced you that not everyone should vote, I?d also like to convince you now that not everyone should go to college. It’s ok not to go to college. There are jobs out there and no one should feel bad about not going if they don’t want to. It should be a choice, not ...SHARETHIS.addEntry({ title: "Save Me Time : Don’t Go To College ", url: "http://www.alogicalillation.com/archives /106" });

Mother’s Day… Not just for mothers?
2008-05-12 00:01:00
I have very observant friends. I was told about this card the other day. I had to run to K-mart and pick up this card. (They’re still in business? Who knew?) A Mother’s Day card for fathers? That has to be one of the most ridiculous things I’ve ever seen. Is this K-mart’s lame attempt at ...

It?s a funny title indeed. Fueled by two separate situations in the past month, I think it important to explain further using these examples. This was a comment I saw on a page recently ?have never bought into the invisible dude in the sky thingy.? Could Obama Be The Next ?White? President?
2008-04-13 06:00:00
Yeah, you read it right. I said it, ?Obama is white.? I?m sick of hearing all this race nonsense getting thrown around. Genetically he?s just as white as he is black. His mother was white and his father was black. So if you can call him a black candidate, I can call him a white one. ...SHARETHIS.addEntry({ title: "Could Obama Be The Next ?White ? International Star Registry: "Happy Valentine's Day!... I'm an Idiot."
2008-02-14 05:36:00
There’s no better way to say “I Love You” and “I’m An Idiot ” at the same time, than to register a star in your loved one’s name. It is what they call “killing two birds with one stone”. There can be nothing sexier than those three little words alongside blatant self-deprecation. International Star Registry sells their cheapest star naming package for $54.00. This includes a certificate, a sky chart, a booklet on astronomy, and a letter of congratulations. So what are you actually paying for? Everything here costs less than five bucks. It’s unbelievable to me that someone can actually sell this. It’s a great idea, because it’s not like oil, you’ll never run out of stars. Even if you did, no one will ever know that they share a star with 18 other “lucky individuals”. This is funny. It’s funny because they send you a letter of congratulations. Congratulations for what??? I can only imagine that it would be written in a very sardonic and condescen...

Microsoft-Yahoo deal: Google, learn from Tiger Woods
2008-02-08 18:19:00
Google, the most profitable internet website ever, continues to whine about the recent news that Microsoft might buy Yahoo . Wait. Google? You’re Gooooogle; how can you complain?! You have a verb named after you. Seriously. Tiger Woods welcomed the competition when Annika Sorenstam was the first woman to enter the PGA tour. Why would he do that? Because he knew it didn’t matter; because he knew that he was the best in the world and had the confidence to take on anyone the world could throw at him. He didn’t whine and say that competition would take away from his profits. Google should learn a little life lesson from Tiger. Welcome competition because it can prove a broader range of dominance. If you’re confident in your ability to be the best, than you won’t have to whine about who’s merging with who. Just do your jobs, and continue to create service people have been using faithfully for years. Image I Stole: http://thegrandview.files.wordpress.com/2 007/07/twg_hea...

‘The Moment of Truth’; Divorce rates at an all-time high.
2008-01-29 06:54:00
A new show on Fox, is exactly the type of show that everyone wants to watch. We watch as other people put the truth of their values, morals, and integrity on the line for money. Why? Because we love to watch idiots. They’ve been asked the questions before the show while being hooked up to a lie detector. The results of the polygraph are kept secret until the questions are asked again in front of millions of people. They tell the truth, they win money(up to $500,000). They lie, they don’t. No one but the most severely doltish pinhead would ever be a contestant on this show. And let me tell you why. They are asked questions like, “Do you wish you were still single?” “Do you think you will still be married in 5 years?” “Have you ever lied to get a job?’ “ Have you ever tried to get a coworker fired?” “Have you ever spied on your coworkers in the bathroom?” The problem is not the questions though. It’s answering them… truthfully. But luckily I am here to save ...

Satire on a Saint
2007-12-31 17:44:00
Many people know her as a Saint , as one of the most profoundly generous and loving people in all of history. She’s been awarded many peace prizes and honors for her supposed humanitarian work. (She’s now in the company of people like Ghandi, and …Al Gore.) This doesn’t surprise me though, people have been misinterpreting her “holier than thou” attitude for love and kindness for many years. You can’t tell me she didn’t do it for fame. Every time she walked into the barren streets of a third world country people worshipped her. People gathered at her feet and flocked to see her as I’m sure she made certain all the cameras were watching while she fed a starving child. How can people be so blind? So gullible? I’m going to let you in on a little secret. She’s NOT a Saint (she won’t be for another several years!) and she has been deceiving people on this point for a long time. She was a part of an organization that has lead to innumerable amounts of death and destru...

Ticketmaster: Master of Tickets…and my money.
2007-12-09 01:20:00
Ticketmaster, the world’s leading ticket company, came up with a great idea. They’ll sell tickets online to most concerts, shows, and sporting events around the world in exchange for a few dollars...and then a few more. They’ve done it well too. I wouldn’t want to do business anywhere else, it’s just SO convenient. Log on, enter credit card number, print. Done. The problem is that they are convenient and they know it. It’s like a pretty girl who knows she’s pretty so she flauntingly wears that miniskirt around (even in the winter) and won’t ever give you the time of day. I hate Ticketmaster the same way I hate those girls.Unlike girls, Ticketmaster will give you the time of day… for an excessive fee (perhaps some girls operate similarly). I recently bought a ticket to a concert from Ticketmaster, as I had done several times before. I had never realized, though, how much extra was added onto the bill by the time you’re done. I should say, they are not small fees. ...

Gas Prices Replace Weather In Small Talk Conversation.
2007-12-05 21:23:00
Old men don’t talk about the weather anymore. They talk about the price of gas. Old women don’t talk about how cold it’s getting and how their arthritis is acting up anymore either. They talk about how ridiculous the price of gas is. It’s true; the price of gas is high. It’s as true as the winter and the cold.People talking about gas doesn’t bother me too much though; we all know it’s high, but we also know the weather is cold. It’s good small talk. What bothers me is when people get upset about the oil companies making so much money. People get so upset veins exaggerate every wrinkle in their head as they explain a conspiracy against us; how the oil company’s are “stealing from the American people”. “They know we need it, that’s why the prices are so high!”Stop, people, stop.I’m tired.I’m tired of doing the research.I’m tired of doing the research FOR people.Does anyone know what percentage the oil company’s make on a gallon of gas?Does anyone ca...

Statistics prove: Dane Cook is not as funny as a snot bubble.
2007-11-26 02:29:00
Dane Cook has somehow become a successful comedian. Mostly with college age kids, who drink too much, but successful all the same. I don’t really want to bash him for being a moron, since he was probably born that way. I would like to, however, bash him for being a loud, arrogant moron. I don’t understand what draws people to him. His formula for jokes is simple. Random subject + Obnoxious voice + F-word = Laughter (Which I think is how the acronym “ROFL” was formed….but I’m not certain.) Dane Cook has figured out that if it doesn’t equal laughter you must repeat formula until it does, eventually someone will get so bored they will laugh, and then they will tell their friends to laugh too.In my effort to find the reason why people think he's funny, I did what any good researcher would do; go to his website. When I arrived at his website, I saw no signs of him actually being a comedian. I heard a song in the background, but it didn’t appear to have any jokes in it, s...

Post-Thanksgiving Post
2007-11-23 18:25:00
Thoughts regarding Thanksgiving :Thanksgiving seems to be the time of year that we all give thanks for the things that we spend most of the year complaining about.Give thanks. Do atheists celebrate Thanksgiving? They better not. I’m sick and tired of atheists acting like they’re so sophisticated and advanced. Their too good for religion all year until the religious holiday season rolls around. Then they take part as if they are sneaking under the radar. “I didn’t know you were the religious type.”“Uh… well… I like food and gifts.”“Oh………………ok.”The y should make a movie called Holiday Crashers where a couple atheists go take part in religious holidays.Of course that would be boring because half of the country does that.I wish atheists believed in something so they could have a holiday that I could crash.Oh yeah, and I swear if I hear any more people discount the legitimacy of thanksgiving because of the white’s kicking the Indians (Sitting bull Indian...

Anorexia Proves Pacifism Wrong.
2007-11-13 02:33:00
Pacifism is one of the greatest and one of the worst ideas in all of history. It’s one of the greatest ideas because world peace is something we all would love to have. Every superficial, blonde beauty queen ever to walk the earth would tell you that. (It doesn’t take a brain surgeon.) No violence about race, religion, politics, domestic disputes, etc. would just be plain nice. Our newscast would be about as long a commercial. We could cut down our 5 o’clock news down to about 4 min. We could just watch the news during the break of our favorite sitcom. I’d rather just watch the sports, weather and a story on the world’s biggest cookie anyway, than see war and shootings every day. Pacifism is also one of the worst ideas in all of history. Let me set something straight first, when I talk about pacifism, I am talking of the strictest kind. Strict pacifism opposes the use of any kind of force under any circumstances. I am not talking about a person who de...

Why Columbus Day?: Background to a holiday not worth celebrating.
2007-10-08 16:59:00
I’ve been looking forward to this day all year; Not only because of the day off from school and work but because I get to question it. I get to question Christopher Columbus , our nation’s integrity, and the overall reasons why we celebrate this day. (I don’t literally get to question Christopher Columbus…just his motives...I guess.) Christopher Columbus was a lost sailor; A lost sailor who aimed for Asia and ended up in the Caribbean. Columbus didn’t “discover” any islands, he discovered people, 8 million people; 8 million people who had “discovered” the island before he did(now the islands of Haiti and Dominican Republic). When he “discovered” that these people were really kind and were interested in forming relationships and trading, he enslaved them. His people enslaved them, raped them, and killed them. Diseases he brought over, became rampant and killed many of them too. The 8 million was cut to 3 million by 1500, which is only 8 years after “1492, when ...

Challenge: Tell me one good thing about MTV… Just one.
2007-09-03 20:40:00
This is the first time I have ever created a challenge to my readers, although I think of it as a sort of rhetorical challenge because I don’t think anyone can come up with any legitimate responses. There is nothing about MTV that is good. Nothing. The people, the music, all the shows, the whole culture is terrible. Music Television was created to show music videos. Wasn’t it? Or is that just an assumption I make when it’s called Music Television. It’s hard to tell though now, because there are practically no music videos, only reality shows that are continually taking chinks out of our Junior-highschooler’s self-worth and sensibility. I don’t care what anyone says about these “reality shows”, this is not reality. Or at least it wasn’t before MTV. Reality shows I guess have nothing to do with reality. It’s funny because so many things they do try to promote things like individuality, and responsibility, when yet it supports hundreds of big-spending, reckless thugs...

This could save more lives than a cure for cancer…?
2007-08-21 01:37:00
What is it, you ask?Well, I’ve gathered some figures from the Cancer.org website and used them to figure out the average number of years an average American loses from cancer. I share these figures below.I also show some math I used to get to my final product: (if you’re not into math, just skip this section and go on to Analysis section.)Chances of getting cancer about 40%Chance of surviving cancer about 61%61% of 40% is 24.4%So chances of dying from cancer is 40% minus 24.4% which equals 15.6%.77% develop cancer after age 55Average life expectancy in the US: approximately 78 Years12% lose 23 years of life or less from cancer3.6% lose more than 23 years of life from cancer(to make the statistics workable we will say that the 3.6% actually lose 78 years of their life, and the 12% lose the full 23 years of their life, which is obviously an exaggeration on both parts)So if we say that 12% loses 23 years and that 3.6% loses 78 years we could say that the average American loses 5.6 ...

Fairness is a lot like dinosaurs.
2007-08-13 18:19:00
Let me explain.1. Dinosaurs are extinct. So is fairness. At one time the world was overwhelmed by giant lizards. There was also a time when the world had some sort of a moral compass. This was before this blurred sense of what fair really is came into being. This was before people sued for spilt hot coffee, or eating too much McDonalds, or psychological trauma bull-crap. This was before steroids were commonplace in baseball, and before celebrities were treated as exceptions (or maybe before celebrities altogether). Fairness no longer exists in its true form anymore.2. We might think it would be awesome to have them back at first, but remember Jurassic Park.Yeah, let’s bring back the dinosaurs. That would be so cool! Wait, isn’t that what they did in Jurassic Park? That didn’t work out that well.Maybe we should also think about that before we start an ethical revolution. Yes, it is easy to see that our morals are lacking and something needs to change, but let’s keep in mind th...
The Road-Builders and Stand-Stillers
2007-07-23 20:51:00
What I don’t understand about the Department Of Transportation is why they are continually fulfilling the stereotype for their workers everyday. Now listen carefully. I DO NOT blame the workers for doing what they are told to do. If their job is to stand around all day and make $9 dollars an hour, then that is their job and I’m glad they have it. I am suspicious of the DOT, however, for hiring 3 times as many workers as they need. That is not even an exaggeration. I don’t know if they have heard or not, but the stereotype for construction workers is, “All they do is stand around all day long.” Now most stereotypes have some validity and some exaggeration, but this one is just plain true. Now is it really necessary to hire people to just stand around? I’m wondering why they do this, because there must be a reason. I know construction work is very dangerous, but do that many people actually get hurt that you need, that many extra people. The reason it is dangerous i...

Shhh... Don't let "The Secret" out...
2007-07-15 00:14:00
There seems to have arisen an underground religion within the last couple of years. When I first heard about it, I said “Ha ha… Oh, that’s ridiculous! Ha ha…” and then I heard that people actually believe it! Then a few months later it was the main topic on the “Oprah Winfrey Show”. It was then brought back the next week for a “Reaction” show. This miraculous idea is called “The Secret ”. For those who haven’t heard of it yet, don’t worry, if everyone knew about it, it wouldn’t be a “secret” now would it. I have posted the video below so you can watch the first 20 minute of it for yourself. “The Secret” is based on the “Law of Attraction”. It explains how if you think about something, it becomes something. The Universe will give you whatever is on your mind, whether good or bad. The Law of Attraction (unlike laws like Newton’s and Einstein’s Laws that are actually true) states: “Everything that is coming into your life, you are attractin...
A Lose/Lose-Lose/Lose Situation
2007-06-27 05:38:00
Undoubtedly the biggest debate we have in this country right now is the war in Iraq. I obviously know why. Some people think we should carry through with our plans, support our troops and our president, and make our opponents eat our dust for hindering the hope of a democratic government in the Middle East. Others believe that every day we keep troops there we are losing more and more American lives, because of the president’s bad decision to exact revenge on the enemy of his father. Or whatever. The point of me writing this has nothing to do with what is right or what is wrong, or what we should do when we NEED to arrive at a decision about this matter. The time WILL inevitably come, but that’s not why I am writing this.I write this to make a few things clear that I think are somewhat muddy in the eyes of this nation. It first occurred to me the other day when I was driving and saw a bumper sticker that said “Bush knew about 9/11 and did NOTHING!”. Now, with my realizat...
