Massive Fire Destroys Antique Warehouse
2008-06-04 13:06:00
PICT0038, originally uploaded by rpnzle. This was taken at a very bad 6 alarm fire last night in South Hampton, NH at about 7:00pm. Many buildings were lost, the good news is no one was hurt! The Local HN news station used this shot and 2 others on their morning news andgave me credit! SOUTH HAMPTON, N.H. -- A fast-moving fire tore through at least two buildings at the site of an antique warehouse Tuesday night. The fire broke out at about 6:45 p.m., and moved quickly through the wood-framed buildings, firefighters said. The property, located on Route 150, is owned by Nor'east Architectural Antique s.Without any nearby hydrants, fire crews were forced to call in tankers. One firefighter was treated after overheating. The state fire marshal's office has been called to the scene. So far there is no word on the amount of damaged caused or what may have started the fire.WMUR New Hampshire

Mt. Sunapee

Mt. Sunapee, originally uploaded by brentdanley. I know this is heavily weighted to the sky, but I like it. What you can't (really) see is that the sun was making a circular rainbow (would it still be a rainbow?) overhead in the clouds.

Old man of the dam profile
2008-05-31 16:11:00
Old man of the dam profile, originally uploaded by MemaNH. As we drove down Rt 25 in Warren, NH (I think it was) we saw a small sign that said "Old Man of the Dam Profile ". It is all by itself on the edge of the road....nothing around it but this small ledge. (There is a dam about 1/4 mile south on the other side of the road but it can't be seen from the sign.)I just had to stop to take a pic of the sign. I got out the passenger side and did my thing. My hubby is still in the driver's seat and is asking me if I could see the man in the ledge. When I got to his angle I could. we had driven by there many times and never noticed it before. He Lives On!

HDR - John P. Hale
2008-05-26 03:24:00
HDR - John P. Hale , originally uploaded by Santa Plausible. John P. HaleThere was hardly a cloud in the sky today; perfect for a 2 hour photo walk to test the new lens. While going through the photos from the day, I realized I try a lot of these types of shots: composing the shot using the radiance of the light source directly. I do it with both the sun and the moon, and I never thought about it until I was working on this at home. The weird part is I don't know where I got the idea from.

the Remnants of Fall Before the Rush of Spring
2008-04-26 13:25:00
Roots 009.jpg, originally uploaded by yogsothoth2003. A path of roots. Have you ever noticed brief periods in the fall and spring where each season resembles the other? This photo, for example, features fallen leaves from the year prior, but the green patches of grass indicate the pending rush of spring.Or during a warm, balmy day in the fall, the smell of the forest makes it seem that the summer, rather than bitter winter, is looming on our doorstep.
