2008-02-05 05:30:00
Surveys about SEO and SEM are quite popular those days. SEOmoz has recently announced the launch of their SEO Industry Survey. At the begining of January, SEMPO had released the results of its In-House Search Marketing (SEM) Salary Survey 2007.While having a strong North American focus and being oriented towards managers roles (26% of the respondents are managers) the results are quite interesting if you want to understand the industry and the salary a little more. The results confirm that the industry is young as around 64% of the respondents have 5 or less years of experience. Experience has a strong impact on SEM salariesThe results also bring more realistic salary expectations than all the articles on the net outlining outrageaous salaries. Quite logically, the number of years of experience has a strong influence on the salaries.49% of respondents with less than 3 years experience have a salary ranging from 0 to $50,000. - Managers (26% of the respondents) can expect salaries ...

Save Energy, While Searching...
2008-01-22 09:57:00
Save energy while searching, is the concept that Blackle, a website using Google Custom Search engine feature claims. Blackle has been created in Sydney, Australia in 2007 by a company call Heap Media based on the following concept:Blackle saves energy because the screen is predominantly black. Image displayed is primarily a function of the user's color settings and desktop graphics, as well as the color and size of open application windows; a given monitor requires more power to display a white (or light) screen than a black (or dark) screen." Roberson et al, 2002Blackle uses the same tecchnology as Google (and also share their text ads), which makes your search as effective, but instead of having a white background it has a black background. Using a black background, has contributed to save 421,207,977 Watt hours until know.Such concept might also be applied to other web applications if you want to help saving energy...

2008-01-16 00:40:00
The first Google PageRank update for 2008 has been conducted on January 10th until around January 12th. The last Google PR update took place at the end of October 2007. This new Page Rank update seems to be a little early compared to the previous ones (usually every 3 months.) Will Google increase the PR update frequency in 2008?... We might never know! :-)
