How to Check Fake or Valid PageRank
2008-05-21 04:41:00 Google PageRank is obviously important to many webmasters, including me. Recently, when I go to different forums to buy high PR domain, I figure out that there are quite a lot of domains that "claim" to have high PR. In fact, the PR shown in Google Toolbar also indicates the claimed PR. But the truth is...The victim of these scams are normally new webmasters who just jump into the domain market. They have spent several hundreds dollars to buy the new domains, but the truth is they are worthless. In light of that, I am going to discuss some easy ways how you can check a website/domain for a valid Google Page Rank or a fake page rank. So, how to check a fake/forged PageRank as well as a valid PageRank?Step :1 ) Check the Google Toolbar. Because many website just add fake PageRank button or image on their website. So, if you have a functional Google Toolbar, you will immediately figure out the fake PR.Step :2 ) Check to see if the page rank showed by Google tool bar is a temporary glit... 2008-05-14 04:42:00 In order to get a higher PageRank (PR), you need to have a lot of backlinks. However, there are differences for the backlinks coming from different sites and domains. It was generally believed that the backlinks from .edu or .gov are important for Google PageRank. How would you build a lot of backlinks from .edu or .gov sites? One very good way to do so is to find some .edu or .gov blogs that do not have the no-follow attribute, and then leave comments to them.In this post, I am going to reveal a very easy way to build links from .edu or .gov sites in a matter of minutes. The key is to search the .edu and .gov sites which contains the similar keywords as your site and allow to make comments. You can search in Google using the following search term: site:.edu in url:blog “comment” -”you must be logged in” -”posting closed” -”comment closed” “keyword”. Does PageRank Really Matter?
2008-05-13 11:41:00 I came across a good post from Digitalpoint, and I think that is a good post to explain the relationship between PR (PageRank) and SERP. So, let's enjoy it.Does PR really matters? Is SERP is everything? Is PR only good for link selling? Is buying links right? Or is selling links wrong? Can I gain any advantage with PR against my competitor? Can PR actually help me with anything at all if I am not selling/buying links? In my opinion it really.... depends on your own ethics and needs as a webmaster and your purpose for the site overall. As for me, I don't buy or sell links, never did and never will cause according to me it is unnecessary and I believe in my own capabilities to be linked to by others. In my honest opinion:a) PR does matter, and it matters quite a lot. Why would it matter? How can I prove that? It matters when you search for the most competitive terms and only the ones with good PR turns up in SERP's first page. PR matters when you want reputation of a site not only in... More About: Pagerank , Matter

Ten Common Techniques to Link Baiting
2008-04-17 05:46:00 Further to my previous post on "Grab Link s for Your Blog by Link Baiting ", I would like to write more on this method, and give ten common techniques for link baiting activities. 1. Podcasting: Make a podcast that give useful tips, discusses hot topics or information within the industry your blog belongs to is a great baiting tool. 2. Interviews: Conducting interview to someone well known in the industry where your blog belong would certainly be worth linking to. In Adsense, these big guys include Darren Rowse, Joel Comm, John Chow etc. (when will I be the next one? LOL) 3. Award Search: Awards search are another way to bring in traffic and links where you let your participants post entries to their blogs with a link pointing to your blog. 4. Tools and games: Create a new tool or games that other bloggers may use to their blogs that contains a link to your blog. But that is not a easy task unless you know much about programming. 5. You probably were doing this by requesting exchange links. Yes, link exchange will work but aside that it's a time consuming activity, the number of links you gathered here is limited unless you want your blog to become a directory link for all other blogs. My question now is - how are you going to get hundreds or thousands of natural links pointing to your blog? You may answer - have a high quality content post/blog. You are just partly correct. This may just give you a few extra links but not hundreds or thousands. You must not only create a high quality content post but high quality content with linkbaiting strategy mechanism. Yes - linkbaiting is the answer. How to Protect Yourself from Sabotage Click
2008-03-30 09:16:00 It is definitely a nightmare for me and you to receive the notification email saying that your site has been disabled. Among all the reasons, invalid clicks and impressions found in your sites is the most common reason suggested by Google. I am sure over 80% of this case, publishers are totally innocent and must get frustrated by this. Instead, most of the time your site was getting sabotage clicks/click fraud. Click fraud occurs when a person, automated script, or computer program imitates a legitimate user of a web browser generate any click on an ad. These clicks are done for the purpose of either to terminate one's Adsense account or increasing the financial burden of the advertisers. To prevent Adsense click fraud and protect your Adsense business, you should install a more sophisticated Adsense tracking tool and monitoring software, such as Adlogger, Sitemeter, Addfreestats, Extremetracking, etc on your Adsense website. Google's Click Fraud Detection System
2008-03-27 08:35:00 In general practice, Google uses a 3-stage detection methods to detect click frauds and invalid clicks:1. Real Time Filters: In this stage, automated algorithms from Google filter out invalid clicks in real time. All the clicks are analyzed for click fraud. This stage detects most of the invalid clicks in advance and prevents those clicks from reaching your account in the first place.2. Offline Analysis: After the first stage of real time filter, most of the invalid clicks are automatically filtered out. The second step involves manual analysis of clicks. This stage is mainly focused on the Adsense network. In case some invalid clicks still pass through this stage, Google has a policy that states that if you have been charged for invalid clicks in the past 2 months, you see a credit in your "Billing Summary" labeled "Adjustment-Click Quality".3. Investigations: Almost all the clicks are filtered out in the first two stages itself. In the last stage of the 3-stage system, all the cli... More About: System , Fraud , Detection
Importance of Inbound Links - How to get them?
2008-03-18 03:17:00 In my previous post on Building Blog Traffic by Link Exchange, I mentioned that link exchange (reciprocal links) will no longer help you increase website popularity but will still help you gain targeted visitors to your site. This time, I am going to talk about one way inbound link, explain how important it is and why every webmaster should have as many as possible. One way inbound link worth a lot more than reciprocal links. Not only it can gain targeted visitors to your blog but also it will increase the search engine ranking (SERP) and in effect will bring you more traffic. Hence, link building is also known as "Off-page optimization" in SEO sense. In real-life, it is never be easy to get inbound link, and in fact, you may need to pay much more time and money to get it. Say for example, many people buy one way inbound link from Da Gsense Codes for $20 a month. What are the benefits of getting one way inbound links?Search engine robots work by following links between websites and bl... Build Blog Traffic by Link Exchange
2008-03-13 03:04:00 Some says link exchange will do more harm than good to your blog, but I don't agree. Link exchange, on one hand, can be a great way to increase your Page Rank and on the other hand, gain a better position in Google. Apart from that, you can get more traffic from the back links of other blogs. Now, this method has become less effective as it will no longer help you with site popularity but will still gain targeted visitors to your site.Let me first tell you why link exchange will no longer help you increase website popularity before we go on building blog traffic through exchanging links the right way. Many webmaster indulge in what I call spam indexing. These cheaters are targeting search engines that rely heavily on popularity and links. Some may buy links to raise popularity. Others engaged in exchanging links with anybody and everybody just to gain popularity. There are even dozen of small websites purposely made to link the main one just to give false view of website popularity.... More About: Blog Traffic , Traffic , Link Exchange , Blog , Exchange

Three Money-Making Models in Adsense
2008-03-11 02:21:00 Not long before, I could still remember standing in awe when one adsense publisher claimed to be making over $50K a month from his Google Adsense and an another $50K from different affiliate products. In my mind, I could not help but believe that if he can do it, I can also do it and everyone can also be equally successful in generating high income revenue from Google Adsense monthly.Several months later where I carried out research on Google Adsense, read more successful stories of people who were successful Google Adsense publishers, read a few ebooks on the subject, downloaded tools and webpage generating software. I realize that this is not a myth that I can hardly achieve. My aim was simple, to uncover the successful methods and make at least one of these techniques as mine and be equally successful, if not better. My research uncovered 3 models that could lead to success. There might be more, but these 3 models figured prominently as I carried out my personal private research.1... More About: Money , Models
Drive Traffic to Your Blog by Pinging
2008-03-07 03:31:00 You want more blog traffic? Have you ever heard of pinging? If not, you can keep reading this post, because pinging can surely increase blog traffic to your site. Pinging is an act of sending a series of packets from one computer over a network or the Internet to a specific computer in order to generate a response from that computer. The other computer responds with an acknowledgment that it received the packets. Ping was created to verify whether a specific computer on a network or the Internet exists, and is connected.Pinging and Blog Traffic Certain Web sites want to know when you post something new to your blog so they can promote it to the world. By pinging these Web sites you can get the word out easily. This allows you to build blog traffic. Most blogging software will ping to at least one of these Web sites automatically. Simplified Google Pagerank Formula in Points
2008-03-05 08:13:00 I am that kind of webmaster that aims to achieve better PR for all of my sites, though I am still reluctant to buy or pay for the backlinks, since I often hear those bad sides of them. My attempt to gain links from the others' sites is through my content and quality posts. When readers visit and read all the posts in your site and find it useful, they will be more likely to put a backlink to you for their respective readers.I am going to share a new and yet simplified Google Pagerank formula with you. I came across with this is DigitalPoint. If you have a good memory, you may know that I have shared a similar formula in terms of links. But this time, this formula would be in points form. See which one you prefer. There are some rules suggested by the author that you need to remember:- If you receive a link to any related sites, multiply your points FROM THAT SITE ONLY by 7- If you site is entirely original content multiply your points by 1.7- If you buy any backlinks or attempt to a... New Privacy Policy in Updated Terms and Conditions
2008-02-28 03:39:00 If you login your Adsense account is these few days, you must notice that there is a page showing the new Terms and Conditions (T&C) on the first page, and prompting you to read through and accept them. If you decide not to accept or forget to accept it by 5.3.2008, your account will then be terminated. That means if you want to continue to participate in this Adsense program like me, you have to accept it.This time around, most of the changes to the Terms and Conditions fall into two broad categories: 1) future products and features and 2) privacy requirements. In addition to that, there are some specific requirements that make it necessary for publishers to post and abide by a transparent privacy policy that users see. According to this policy, publishers must notify their users of the use of cookies and/or web beacons to collect data in the ad serving process. This change relates to advertisers' use of innovative products and features like Gadget Ads and other offerings in t... More About: Privacy , Policy , Privacy policy
Request Your Readers to Write Articles for Your Blog
2008-02-25 09:04:00 Further to my previous post on hiring someone else to write article for you, I would like to share more about article writing if you refuse to do it yourself. What can you do if you don't want to pay for an article, and yet want to keep up the posting frequency in your blog? Another solution is to ask your readers to write for you. OF course, it is only applicable to those big blogs with at least 100 RSS readers.Have you ever considered that your readership can provide you a good source of articles? Since most likely your readers also know the topic of blog well (otherwise they would not subscribe your feed, and stay the top of your blog new posts), they can easily write a related post for you. However, the main problem of this method is quality, and most of the time, the articles are merely copied from other sites which make it no longer unique. Make sure that you need to obtain the ownership of the article, after receiving it from the readers. More About: Articles , Readers , Write , Blog , Request
Pay for the Professional Post - Save your time
2008-02-22 08:33:00 Although you maybe very familiar with the topic of the blog you are writing, you may not have the idea to write a post every time, especially if you post everyday in your blog. It comes to a dilemma, it is good to have post everyday, but you do not know what to write for the coming days. Even do how much I try; my mind just never feed me with some thoughts to write about. But this is not the only reason why we can’t provide new entries to our blogs at times. I mean, let's be honest. We all are not free for our blogs all the time. But how do successful bloggers find solutions in similar situation like this?Let the expert make new entries to your blog. What, are you kidding? No, I'm serious and yes, successful bloggers do invite other bloggers to post entries to their blogs. This will not mean they are out of topics to discuss with. They simply understand that they are not an expert to all the subjects their readers wanted to read about, of which their blog should provide. So, the... More About: Time , Post , Save , Professional
Traffic from Blog Directory Submission
2008-02-18 02:37:00 I have previously written a post on directory submission, and I want to discuss more on it today. Almost all bloggers should know that directory submission will increase blog traffic to a certain extent. I know, you knew it but how much have you done submitting your blog and RSS feed to blog directories? Blog directories is a bit different from the normal directory that it is specifically designed for blog submission only and the classification inside is far more detailed.I suppose, this is a good opportunity to conduct a survey. Another follow-up question is this, how much directory submission will you think be enough to turn your blog into money making machine? When your target is blog for money, maybe or just maybe 100 directory submission will not be enough. For this blog, I aimed for 1000 directory submission done before the year ends. I will post here names and links of the directories to which this blog is submitted and keep this entry updated until I reach 1000 submission. L... More About: Traffic , Directory , Submission
Using "TrackBack" to Increase Traffic
2008-02-15 02:28:00 To many bloggers, TrackBack may not be a popular thing. Many do not even know about it and among those who are knowledgeable about TrackBack, never used it on their blogs. But, I am going to share this little tools, since this tool can be a very effective one to bring good traffic to your site, if you know how to use it properly. At the very beginning, you may want to know: "what is TrackBack?"TrackBack is a system implemented by Movable Type and later adopted by many blogging tools, including TypePad, BoastMachine, WordPress, and Nucleus. Essentially, TrackBack is a mechanism or platform for communication between blogs and bloggers. If a blogger writes a new post commenting on or referring to the post found on another blog and if both the commenting blogger's blog and the other blog has TrackBack mechanism support, then the commenting blogger can notify the other blog with a "TrackBack ping" which means the other blog will automatically display a backlink and summaries of the comme... Use RSS Feed to Generate Traffic
2008-02-14 04:38:00 As stated in my previous post, this blog implemented Technorati Tag to get some traffic. So, maybe you might ask, how was it? What's the traffic? Honestly, I still don't no. It's too early to track the traffic and this blog is just 3 days old. But I will start telling you about the traffic maybe after 10 posts.Today, I visited high traffic blogs and try to list down their common features. There are a number of which but for now, I will just tackle one - RSS feed. Yes, most high traffic blogs publish RSS feed.Every serious blogger publishes an RSS feed of his posts and readers aggregate all their favorites blogs feeds in an aggregator. When you publish your RSS feed, your viewers will thank you, and there will be more of them, because it allows them to see your site without going out of their way to visit. While this seems bad at first glance, it actually improves your blog's visibility; by making it easier for your users to keep up with your site - allowing them to see it the way... Get Traffic from Technorati
2008-02-01 08:08:00 In order to turn your blog as well as this blog into money making machine it needs to have traffic. No traffic simple means no money. The higher the traffic you get, the higher the chances of you getting big money. So getting traffic is all important. Many first time blogger automatically assume that once their blog is setup and they put a few posts on it, they will get some hits and regular readers. This is definitely a wrong impression. You won't get any traffic if no one knows about your blog. So at this early, it is good to focus on how to boost traffic for your blog.I took a look around at what some of the successful blogs were doing and came up with a number of traffic strategies that help them increase their blog traffic. As we go along, I will discuss these strategies one by one. For now, let me talk about boosting your blog traffic with Technorati .Technorati is one of the best traffic providers for bloggers. When to Start a New Blog
2008-01-26 03:55:00 I was reading a post over on the A4U Forum today about when the best time to launch a new site is. Perhaps the immediate answer that comes to mind is "when it's ready" but I don't think it's that simple.Obviously, you want the search engines to index your site as quickly as possible but you also don't want people visiting and being put off by incomplete content before it's ready. Plus you don't want to upload a site with a load of dead end links. This is why I always try an adopt a "stages stratergy" when I'm uploading new sites. What I mean by this is that I'll always split parts of the site up so that they can be published independantly of other sections, as this way you can get some inbound links and keep adding more content gradually. Let People Rate Your Blog - Blograte
2008-01-25 03:52:00 I came across Blog arate the other day, which is a cool widget that lets readers give your blog posts a star rating out of 5. It isn’t just a rating system though, it also sends blog posts back to the Blogarate website, along with the post star rating, and displays it Digg style.Obivously, it's advantage over sites like Digg is that you're actually giving a post or article a rating, which could be good or bad, as opposed to just voting for decent posts, which is much more useful for the author.Although this is a pretty good widget, I think it's more suited to business or news type blogs than personal blogs. I reckon it would be especially good for content or article sites/blogs that are using wordpress as a cms, as it's a good way to get feedback on your content from your users and probably get some extra traffic from the Blogarate site too. Make a Blog or Website to Earn Online
2008-01-23 10:34:00 After having a online business idea in your head, the next step you gonna do is to make a new blog or website. At present, you can either make your own website from your HTML knowledge or using softwares like Dreamweaver or Frontpage. On the other hand, there are many free or paid websites that provide you with thousands of professionally-designed templates. Bu before doing so, you need to make a self-assessment and think about the following questions:1. Would you like to make money with PPC programs like Adsense, Bidvertiser or TLA? If yes, you'll need to plan for on-site advertising space in the website design.2. Do your website design need to have forums or message boards so that you can interact with your readers?3. Do you want to reserve some space to display articles or posts?4. Are you going to use a content management system (CMS) to run your website?5. I Am Back!
2008-01-21 16:55:00 I have to say I miss you all. Can someone tell me how many days there are for my disappearance? I guess there should be more than 5 months!! I am so sorry that I haven't posted any Adsense tips and tricks in the blog for so long. I was busying with my stuff in my workplace. In September and October, I was working in a project for a development in Kygyzstan (hope my spelling is correct though I worked as a planner for over two months with this lovely country), a nation in Central Asia. Originally, I would like to share the CGI images showing such development for nearly 2,000 hectares, but unluckily I still kept them in my ex-working company. And then in November and December, I worked in the government and handle all the planning application (there is a completed and well-structured planning system in Hong Kong here). So I am quite busy from time to time over this three months. While I stopped to post for a week, I found that I was getting lazier and lazier to post a new post. After a... More About: Back
More on Comments of Blogs
2007-08-21 08:14:00 Does not having a comments facility mean it’s not really a blog? Do comments add to the quality of a blog? I know that some bloggers have even disabled the function of comments in their blogs? This post to follow my yesterday's post on the importance of comments.Who reads comments anyway?Just about the only time I ever actually read comments is on the first visit to a new blog that I am weighing up. I scan down the main page and see how many of the posts have "Comments (0)". If nobody is commenting, then my instinctive reaction is that the blog is not worth reading. If the blog passes that very unscientific test of mine, I add it to my RSS Feed Reader (in my case Flock), and after that I never read another comment on that blog. Ever. For this same reason I also seldom add comments to other blogs. Will we turn commenting off here? That’s a tough question, because one of the reasons I like commenting as a blog author is that it is a type of affirmation. Importance of Responding to Comments
2007-08-20 05:59:00 From time to time, your blog must receive some comments to your posts, right? It is quite basic to spare some of your blogging time to respond those comments. As my time is quite ample, I can definitely do that thing and respond to and moderate all of them. However, it is often one of the things that slips for many bloggers over time as a result of a growing blog.To me, it is very important to repsond comment in order to keep the readership. By thank youing the commenter, you are sort of encouraging them to stay tuned with your blog. When the others see these conversation, they will know that the blogger is keen to respond to all the comments, and their questions will also be answered very soon. It provides incentive to them to leave their quesitons or opinions in your blog. On the other hand, the comment section can provide a chance to develop a small community in your blog. This happends when some regular visitors help you respond those simple comment or questions. This can build ... More About: Comments
Create Heatmap with Crazy Egg
2007-08-15 20:46:00 In order to discover which ad placement give the best result and find out which design encourages visitors to click deeper, you may need a heatmap to assist you. There may be many heatmap generation service out there, but the one I am currently using is Crazy Egg. The basics of this tool are that it tracks where readers of your blog click when surfing on your blog. It creates a heatmap of the results. One useful service offered by CrazyEgg is "Confetti". This records the exact location of the visitor's clicks on a page and then analyze the result by a series of ways. Confetti also allows you track people according to their operating system, the keyword that they arrive on a page using, browser, window size and even how long they stay on the court before they click. It is very important to know the clicking pattern of visitors. There are some real benefits that CrazyEgg brings to us. For example, CrazyEgg tracks clicks on ads like AdSense. You can then know where on the ad they click, ... More About: Create
How many Inbound Links Do You Need?
2007-08-13 20:02:00 Today, I am going to focus on Page Rank again. As you may know, SEO talks about two things - On-page optimization and Off-page optimization. You can handle the on-page optimization without any problem since you can have full control on what to show or to have in your site. On the other hand, it is not under your control in case of off-page optimization which talks about the inbound links. As the title of this post implies, how many links do you need to in order to achieve certain PR of your site? First of all, let's look at the table below: Therefore, as you can see from the above table, if you want to achieve Pagerank 6, you need at least 18.5 external Pagerank 6 links, 101 external Pagerank 5 links, or 555 external Pagerank 4 links. Of course, getting inbound links from a higher PR site will become harder. Sometimes, you may need to pay for those inbound links. It depends on you whether it is worth to buy those inbound links. This table partly relfect the truth that you should g... More About: Links

More articles from this author:2007-08-08 18:41:00 External linking is the largest factor in determining PageRank, and is the place where you have the least control. There is no way to force another web master to link to your site, especially when they already have a high PageRank. For this reason and many more, increasing your PageRank is difficult, but important nonetheless. In this section we will discuss why external linking is important to the PageRank of your web pages, what the correct way to link is, who to request links from and why these links have such importance. The actual amount of effect that Google 's PageRank has on the ranking of a website or web pages is debated, and it is probably safe to say that Google will not be letting us know anytime soon. What we do know is that a web page's PR does play a role in Google's indexing and Google's ranking. The higher a web page's PageRank, the more frequently it will be crawled and refreshed.
