Experience Claim Belied By Hillary’s Campaign Missteps
2008-04-09 09:00:00 The New York Observer opines that Hillary Clinton’s campaign is showing that she doesn’t have the experience needed to run the country. Writes Niall Stanage: Hillary Clinton barely lets a day pass without asserting that she is the more battle-hardened, experienced and reliable of the Democratic presidential candidates. But the campaign she’s running continues to indicate otherwise. … The Clinton campaign has been bedeviled by strategic misjudgments and poor planning for much of its existence. Simon thinks it was a good performance, but he is “slightly with Randy.” Simon doesn’t like it when Michael Johns impersonates a rock star. He thought the blues angle would have been better. Syesha Mercado Syesha Mercado sings “I Believe” by Fantasia. Randy says he didn’t find the special connection that he found with Fantasia with Syesha Mercado’s version tonight. Don’t Forget John McCain Is Running Also
2008-04-09 01:00:00 I’ve been focusing on all of the attention Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton have been giving Indiana lately, so it is always good to remember that there is a Republican primary coming up in May as well. Sen. John McCain is asking for your votes, even though I don’t think he’s coming to Northwest Indiana in the near future. From a recent John McCain campaign email: On issue after issue, never in recent memory has there been such a stark difference in the direction that opposing candidates want to lead America. I intend to win the war in Iraq and bring our troops home with honor in that victory. Senators Clinton and Obama want to surrender and withdraw our armed forces. When I’m your president, I will continue my fight to end wasteful spending and restore fiscal responsibility to Washington. My Democratic opponents will raise your taxes. In these challenging economic times, the last thing we need is a Democratic president raising our taxes as both Senators Cli... More About: Running
Obama Making A 10 PM Visit To South Bend
2008-04-08 13:00:00 Barack Obama will visit South Bend ’s Washington High School late Wednesday evening. Hillary Clinton had earlier been denied a visit to the school, reports the South Bend Tribune. Presidential hopeful Sen. Barack Obama will make a late-night appearance Wednesday at the same South Bend high school where his Democratic primary opponent, Sen. Hillary Clinton, was denied an appearance nearly two weeks ago. The Illinois Democrat is expected to take to the stage around 10 p.m. Wednesday, his campaign confirmed tonight. It will be the first stop on a three-day tour of Indiana ahead of the state’s May 6 primary election. Doors open at 8 p.m. School officials say the appearance isn’t during school hours, as Clinton’s would have been, and therefore is not a disruption to classes. Washington High School students, faculty and staff members are on spring break this week. Post from: Christopher Hedges Obama Making A 10 PM Visit To South Bend
Prayers For Obama
2008-04-08 10:00:00 In these days when some misinterpret the Constitution’s guarantees of freedom of religion to mean the government must stamp out all religion publicly expressed, some Indiana Barack Obama supporters are planning to take a moment or two to pray for Barack Obama, according to the Barack Obama website. The power of the goodwill, well-wishes, empassioned efforts, and prayers that we have all individually given in our support of Barack Obama, has undoubtedly galvanized his journey to winning the Democratic nomination, and ultimately, to becoming our next president. This is an opportunity to exponentially augment that power, OVER THE NEXT 3 TUESDAYS, by collectively focusing our spiritual attention and intention before the next critical primaries. Let’s all take a moment to pray for his continued protection, guidance, and victory at the polls. Praying for our national figures isn’t a bad idea. Let’s all take a moment or two to pray for all of our nation’s lead... More About: Prayers
‘Spine of Steel’
2008-04-08 09:00:00 Hillary Clinton starts her Indiana ad campaign with her “Spine of Steel ” advertisement. Sen. Evan Bayh says: “I’ve known Hillary for twenty years. She’s got a spine of steel. She’ll fight for our jobs, our troops, and the America we love. Strong. Seasoned. She’ll always stand up for us.” Will Hillary’s “Spine of Steel” win over steel workers and other blue collar workers that Hillary Clinton is hoping to win over in May? Hillary vs. Barack Over By Mid May?
2008-04-07 18:45:00 William Kristol predicts the John McCain vs. Barack Obama election contest could begin as soon as mid May. Some Republicans are grasping at the idea that a long, bitter fight for the Democratic nomination will weaken Obama. Their hopes are about to be dashed. After the results are in from Pennsylvania on April 22, or from Indiana and North Carolina on May 6, it should become clear that Hillary Clinton won’t be able to catch Obama in the overall popular vote. Without that possibility, Clinton won’t have a shot at persuading superdelegates to break her way. So Clinton will probably concede by mid-May. She’ll be a gracious loser (they’ll hide Bill away somewhere). The weeks that follow will be a Democratic lovefest. And the money will keep pouring in to the Obama campaign, ensuring Democratic dominance of the airwaves in the summer. Time for Republicans to start their making their case for the presidency before the Democratic summer of love begins. Post from: Christopher Hedge...
Hillary: Blast From The Past?
2008-04-07 17:00:00 The Los Angeles Times writes that Hillary Clinton has changed the focus of her campaign from experience to one focusing on a “back to the future” theme of war bonds. In an old gymnasium in Hammond, Ind., a steel town outside Chicago, Clinton called for issuing federal bonds to rebuild roads and bridges, reminding several thousand supporters of a time when the government helped keep the steel mills running around the clock. “During World War II, we had war bonds, didn’t we?” she asked. “Why don’t we let Americans buy bonds to rebuild America? . . . We can again put thousands of Americans to work.” Post from: Christopher Hedges Hillary: Blast From The Past ? More About: Blast from the Past
If Dems Had Winner Take All, It Would Be Hillary vs. McCain
2008-04-07 15:30:00 Salon’s Sean Wilentz argues that if the Democratic party had a winner take all system, they’d already have Hillary Clinton as their nominee. Wilentz also writes that Hillary Clinton could be John McCain if she becomes the Democratic party’s candidate — a contention that contradicts Barack Obama’s statements that he can beat John McCain. If the Democrats ran their nominating process the way we run our general elections, Sen. Hillary Clinton would have a commanding lead in the delegate count, one that will only grow more commanding after the next round of primaries, and all questions about which of the two Democratic contenders is more electable would be moot. A Hillary Loss Would Be Blow To Indiana’s Dem Elites
2008-04-06 09:30:00 Hoosier Access’ Brian Sikma writes that a Hillary Clinton loss would be a blow to Indiana ’s Democratic party establishment, most significantly Sen. Evan Bayh. It should come as no surprise that the Indiana Democratic establishment has for the most part endorsed Hillary Clinton. Evan Bayh holds quite a bit of sway in the party and his endorsement of a presidential candidate is almost binding on anyone who wishes to stay within the good graces of the party. Speaking of favorite candidates, wouldn’t it be interesting to see Schellinger and Clinton loose the Indiana primary and Obama and Thompson win against the establishment? Of course, this is interesting only if you are not hopelessly in love with the Indiana Democratic party’s talking points. 2008-04-05 15:03:00 I don’t know where I’d be without spam filters. My spam filter box has 2528 spam messages sitting in it right now. Akismet has captured 1606 spam blog comments here. Bad Behavior has blocked 1687 splog access attempts in the last 7 days on this blog. Could All That SPAM Be Worth Millions? The Indiana Code has a provision that allows Hoosiers to sue spammers — with presumed damages of $500 per prohibited Deceptive Commercial Electronic Mail. See I.C. 24-5-22 and I.C. 24-5-22-10(d)(2). I’m an Indiana resident, so therefore the law applies to anyone sending Deceptive Commercial email as defined by the statute to my inbox. Jurisdiction is provided in the statute — anyone sending prohibited email submits to the jurisdiction of Indiana. At this rate, if all of those messages in my spam filter were prohibited and I prevailed in an action, they’d be worth more than $1 million at the presumed damages! Indiana Horserace Tightening
2008-04-05 14:00:00 Poll shows Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton In Statistical Tie Brian Montopoli writes for CBS that the Indiana horse race between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton is getting tighter and could be too close to call at this point. Depending on what happens in the April 22nd Pennsylvania primary, May 6th – the day that voters in North Carolina and Indiana go to the polls – could be a pivotal day in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination. There has been little polling out of Indiana in this election cycle, but yesterday brought new numbers showing Hillary Clinton with a three-point lead over Barack Obama in the state. That makes the WSBT-Tribune poll too close to call, since the margin of error is 5 percentage points. The poll found that most Indiana voters have made up their minds. Clinton leads among whites and women; Obama among blacks and men. Public Opinion Changes Quickly. Will Clinton’s $109.2 Million Earnings Sway Their Base? It’s amazing how the co...

Clintonian Meltdowns
2008-04-05 01:46:00 The Clintons are causing all sorts of meltdowns in the Democratic party: Bill Clinton explodes in a tirade in a private meeting with superdelegates, reports the Huffington Post. “The Bill Clinton who met privately with California’s superdelegates at last weekend’s state convention was a far cry from the congenial former president who afterward publicly urged fellow Democrats to ‘chill out’ over the race between his wife, Hillary Rodham Clinton, and Barack Obama,” the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Liberal talk show host Randi Rhodes suspended after calling Hillary Clinton a word that might not meet Google’s quality standards. Democrat Party Worries About GOP Crossover Voters
2008-04-04 13:48:00 While Hillary Clinton’s cry has been to let everyone vote who wants to vote, Democrat ic party officials threaten to block certain people from voting — long time GOP voters who might have had a change of heart and wish to vote for Democratic party candidates. Will Democratic party officials try to suppress voting by people who want to vote for Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama? Why would a party that always raises the specter of voter intimidation resort to voter intimidation to scare people away from the polls who may have changed their party? Will Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama voters be turned away under some sort of threats — maybe aggressive challenging at the polls? Does Continued Fight Mean A John McCain Victory?
2008-04-04 13:27:00 Will the continued Hillary Clinton - Barack Obama primary battle and prospect for a convention battle over superdelegates end up being a Pyrrhic victory for the winner? Write Katharine Q. Seelye and Julie Bosman in the New York Times: Convention fights often spell ruin for a party. The 1980 experience for Democrats — as well as a fight in 1968, and one in 1976 for Republicans — all suggest that a bruising primary carried through the summer can contribute to defeat in November. Today, nervous Democrats are worried that history will repeat itself as Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, who lags in delegates and the popular vote, has refused to concede the nomination to Senator Barack Obama. Despite the increasing rancor of the campaign, Mrs. Clinton says she is staying in until the voting is over. Post from: Christopher Hedges Does Continued Fight Mean A John McCain Victory ?
