So finally Karzzzz has released with all it's extra zzz's. But believe you me, it does not induce sleep like the zzzz's suggest. In fact I would safely say that it is quite entertaining to watch this remake of the highly successful film by the same name (of course without the extra zzz's) made by Subhash Ghai way back in time. Himesh Reshammiya lives upto all the hype he has been generating about Karzzzz. I mean we have to give it to this guy. He works hard and he markets himself even harder. I saw it with my family in a hall which was almost packed full. This reminds me of a phrase I read about Himesh sometime back- 'You can hate him, you can love him, but you canNOT ignore him' although I wish the director would have edited the film a little more or at least removed some of the songs from the narrative. Saw a couple of fine movies over the last week and a couple of really bad ones too.There is a very positive trend going on in India right now. At least as far as the kind of movies that are being made in this country. It's no longer about film makers copying hit foreign films and making it into Hindi (Of course the superhit block busters are still the ones which are copied). But some film makers have really started to make an effort to make films which say something. Good story telling, good direction, good writing have become the norm.So let's get on with the films I saw:Mumbai Meri Jaan: ****A brilliant film about people in Mumbai and how they are affected by something which has become almost a way of life everywhere in India in general. In this case, it is the 7/11 bomb blasts that rocked the Mumbai local trains. It was a sad day for Ishmeet's family when the news of his drowning in a Maldives swimming pool started coming. May God rest his soul in peace.What a way to go! 19 years of age, winning the 'Star Voice of India' a reality singing competition, a playback singing career on the upswing. Sigh!Guess, that's the way God's script goes.This just goes to show how much control we have of our life or our death. Have you seen the latest films to have released recently? Well, the least said about them the better, isn't it? No, I have not seen any of them so I cannot review them but then isn't that the way movies are being treated in today's times? It's really the age of 'wait and watch'. Everyone waits for the other to see a film and tell them how it was before they can go and see it too. In the process no one actually sees the film. It's also not about promotions anymore because come on, YashRaj Film s do promote their films fiercely but that doesn't seem to be working.Let's list the movies released recently-'Kismet Konnection'- A Total Dud! Jodha Akbar, starring Hritik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, is probably the most awaited films of this year. But the jinx seems to be stronger than anyone has expected. The latest news is that fans will be able to see this magnum opus only in April . Ashutosh Gowariker's back is not getting any better and what with the post production work still remaining, the team will be able to make a final print only in March. But they cannot release it because of the exams of children during the period. So it will have to be either April or May. Well, patience has its virtues they say. Lets hope the jinx subsides and the film sees the light of the day and reaches where it is destined to reach. We pray for a speedy recovery for Ashutosh too.

Benazir Bhutto had been offered a Bollywood film way back in 1972, when she was a young girl.She was just 18 when she visited India with her father, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto who had come here for the historic Shimla talks in the wake of the India-Pakistan war in 1971. The film was offered to her by veteran comedian I.S. Johar.
